Fred H. Lubin, President EDUCATION:
1970 - 1975 POST GRADUATE WORK EXPERIENCE:
Present: Position: President
Duties: Responsibilities include project management,
marketing, research, report preparation and third party reviews,
liaison with government agencies and clients,
November, 1993: Position: Project Manager/Senior Environmental Chemist Duties: Responsibilities included Project Management, Contamination Assessment, Site Remediation, Risk Assessment, Remedial Investigation, Feasibility Studies, and Environmental Auditing. Responsible for data interpretation to determine the extent and nature of contamination, evaluation of mitigative measures and hazardous materials disposal options, groundwater fate and transport computer modeling, and report preparation.
September, 1992 Position: Contract Environmental Consultant Duties: Conducted literature and database research to compile a Waste Disposal Matrix. This document was used by Waste Transfer Station management to provide information on disposal alternatives for hazardous waste. The document contained facility information concerning waste acceptability criteria, limitations, disposal methods and volumes, locations and contact personnel for the U.S. northern tier states and western Canada. Performed literature and database research to assemble a Compendium of Soil Remediation Technologies. This document contained remediation technologies such as thermal, biological, chemical and physical methods on full, pilot and bench scales. United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) databases such as the Vendor Information System for Innovative Treatment Technologies (VISITT), Alternative Treatment Technology Information Center (ATTIC), and the Office of Research and Development Bulletin Board System (ORD-BBS) were some of the sources accessed for this document. An extensive literature search was performed.April, 1991 UMA Engineering Ltd.Calgary, Alberta Position: Senior Environmental Chemist Duties: Responsibilities included Project Management performing contamination assessments and environmental auditing programs. Ensuring quality assurance/quality control in all groundwater/soil investigations. Other functions included client/regulatory liaison, monitoring well installation and surveys, soil and groundwater sampling, data interpretation, evaluation of mitigative measures and remediation options, and preparation of proposals and final reports. April, 1989 Product Ingredient Technology Boca Raton, Florida Position: Manager of Research and Development Duties: Responsible for method development pertaining to the isolation and purification of essential oils from natural sources via extraction and distillation techniques. Managed a research and development laboratory. Developed analytical methods (via mass spectrometry) for determining the differences between natural and artificial bitter almond oil and benzaldehyde. Made presentations to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning our analytical findings as to contaminants and adulterants found in competitors' "natural" flavourings. Acted as technical liaison between government agencies, food and beverage companies, and Product Ingredient Technology (PIT). Managed technical staff. January, 1988 Florida Testing and Engineering, Inc.Fort Lauderdale, Florida Position: Director of Environmental Science Duties: Started a new department of environmental science for a major engineering and consulting firm. Developed a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program. Performed and authored Environmental Audits, Contamination Assessment Reports (CAR) and Remedial Action Plans (RAP). Responsible for authoring a review of all analytical environmental laboratories in the south Florida area. Designed a new environmental laboratory and managed a full technical staff. Acted as liaison between governmental agencies (FDA, EPA, etc.), clients, and Florida Testing and Engineering (FTE). Utilized an air quality computer modeling and forecasting program (TEXIN). November, 1986 Canadian Hunter Exploration, Ltd.Calgary, Alberta Position: Senior Reservoir Technologist Duties: Field scale reservoir simulation of miscible and waterflood development projects utilizing the Computer Modeling Group's black oil properties program (CMG-PROP). Calibration of equations of state (i.e., matching computer generated data to laboratory data by adjusting critical properties and binary interaction coefficients) to simulate reservoir fluid properties under changing conditions of pressure, temperature and composition. Computer generation of pseudoternary, pressure-composition, and phase behaviour diagrams, constant volume depletions, differential vaporizations, saturation pressure predictions, and flash calculations. Responsible for authorizing reservoir engineering studies on various formations for production forecasting. Scrutinized incoming laboratory data (special core, PVT, and hydrocarbon liquid analyses) for accuracy and integrity. Responsible for authoring a review of all commercial laboratories in Calgary and Edmonton as to their performance and capabilities. Created and supervised all laboratory testing programs. Use of various software programs on both mainframe and personal computers. July, 1985 Diamond Oil Well Drilling Company Canada Ltd. (DOWDCO)Calgary, Alberta Position: Technical Services Manager Duties: Started new regional office for expanding Texas based company specializing in high technology coring services. Developed and maintained markets for coring bits (diamond, PDC, TSD) and services including sponge coring, a method for determining in-situ fluid saturations for enhanced oil recovery projects. Consulted with clients and interpreted data to assist in proper reservoir management. Managed service staff. Maintained active role in professional societies and associations. July, 1981 Core Laboratories - Canada Ltd.Calgary, Alberta Position: Senior Technical Sales Representative Duties: Provided consulting services to assist in formation evaluation through interpretation of electric log and laboratory data (core, special core, pressure-volume-temperature (PVT), petrographic and reservoir sensitivity analyses). Assisted in selection of producing horizons and perforation intervals. Recommended enhanced oil recovery schemes to optimize field productivity. Provided resolution to client problems by recommending appropriate analyses for corrective action and providing research on problem areas. Developed and maintained markets for services in reservoir fluids, PVT, gas, oil water, core and special core analyses for Canadian operations. Maintained an active role in professional societies and associations. Position: Reservoir Fluids Technician Duties: Performed PVT (Pressure-Volume-Temperature) analyses on long-windowed, high pressure cell. Analyses performed included swelling studies, pressure volume, differential vaporization, and viscosity versus pressure relations, dew point, bubble point, and gas gravity determinations and separator "flash" tests. May, 1979 University of British ColumbiaDepartment of Chemistry and Microbiology Vancouver, British Columbia Position: Research Assistant Duties: Synthesis and purification of methylated 74As-labeled arsines, arsenic and arsonic acids. To establish the "arsenic cycle" via the analysis of the biotransformation of 74As-labeled species (major components in herbicides and pesticides) in bovine rumen fluid, sewage sludge, and individual strains of methanogenic bacteria. Another project included the synthesis and purification of putrecinyl thymine, a new base isolated from the DNA of bacteriophage fW-14. August, 1976 Raylo ChemicalsEdmonton, Alberta Position: Chemical Technologist Duties: Plant scale production of specialized research chemicals; chiefly rare or unusual varieties. Purification and analysis via gas-liquid phase chromatography, and infrared spectroscopy. Operation of large scale (400 litre) reactors and vacuum distillation equipment, acid scrubbing systems, and industrial centrifugation equipment.
